New Orleans: 24-Hour Bridal Boudoir

You’ve seen her work on the cover of Vogue and Modern Bride and Martha Stewart Weddings. She has dressed Holly Hunter for the Oscars, Mariska Hargitay for the Golden Globes, and Jennifer Lopez for her wedding to Marc Anthony. This gifted designer of once-in-a-lifetime dresses has worked with Carolina Herrera, Anna Sui, and Vera Wang - with whom she continues to freelance. And now Suzanne Perron has come home to New Orleans and set up shop.

Not so much a shop, as an elegant couture studio on stylish Magazine Street, where she puts her extensive talent and experience to work creating custom dresses for discriminating brides. Dresses that are cut, draped, lovingly hand-stitched and embellished to suit each individual figure and personal sense of style. Dresses that require untold hours to bring about, and up to three fittings to perfect.

To accommodate out-of-town brides at a level of excellence on-par with the gowns she creates, Perron is teaming up with International House, New Orleans’ premier boutique hotel. This sophisticated New Orleans landmark has been featured in such arbiters of chic as Hip Hotels and Condé Nast Traveler; in a major renovation to be completed in February 2007, it is transforming its top floor into two spectacular penthouses of 800+ square feet. Bridal clients of Suzanne Perron will be eligible for the exclusive Bridal Boudoir package at International House - staying in one of the luxurious penthouse suites - when they travel to New Orleans for the two or three fittings required by Perron.

Keeping in the New Orleans spirit, take care of mementos for your bridesmaids with a private consultation with famed local jewelry designer Mignon Faget, who will help you choose just the right gift for each member of your party, according to personal taste and style.
For you final fitting, gather your bridal party to accompany you to this time-honored feminine ritual, where a professional photographer will artfully document the finishing touches. Afterwards, host a giddy gathering for the group in your penthouse, bestowing your gifts and serving tasteful treats. Sip “something blue” – a Boudoir Bellini, the bridal specialty drink of loa, the International House bar.

The service at International House ensures that each 24-hour visit is as custom-fit as the gown, from the Town Car that collects you at the airport and delivers you to your appointments; to the fridge stocked with your favorite beverages and snacks; to the Vibe Specialist at your beck-and-call; even the flowers in your wedding color scheme that decorate your penthouse. All manner of spa treatments can be ordered in-room. The healthful cuisine at Hoshi, Scott Boswell’s stylish new restaurant opening at International House in spring 2007, with its emphasis on Japanese techniques combined with Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean touches, will help maintain your bridal figure.

Rates for the penthouse suites begin at $499 per night [based on double occupancy]. Reservations must be made at least three weeks in advance, and will depend upon availability.

For the couture gown of your dreams, and the accommodations to match, Paris and New York have got nothing on New Orleans. In fact, Suzanne Perron and International House have it “all sewn up.”
